What this kit checks

Reverse osmosis is judged on one thing: the difference between what goes in and what comes out. Test both sides and compare. Each measure has its own detailed guide:

• Nitrate — should drop sharply through the membrane
• Fluoride — removed well by healthy RO
• Sulphate — a good mineral-rejection marker
• Sodium chloride — dissolved salts through the membrane
• Lead — metals should not pass
• Hardness — RO output reads very soft by design

Reading your strip

Take one sample from the feed tap and one from the RO tap, dip a strip in each for two seconds, wait 30 seconds and compare them against the colour chart.

What to do next

• Output readings close to the feed readings mean the membrane or pre-filters need attention — check service intervals and re-test.
• Readings that creep up over months are normal membrane ageing; a dated log tells you when it’s time to service.
• Very soft, low-mineral output is exactly what RO is designed to produce — it’s a sign of a healthy system, not a fault.
