What this kit checks

The Pool & Spa Water Test Kit reads the six measures that keep bathing water clean, comfortable and kind to your equipment. Each has its own detailed guide:

• pH — comfort and sanitiser performance
• Total alkalinity — holds your pH steady
• Hardness — protects surfaces and heaters
• Bromine — for bromine-sanitised tubs
• Free chlorine — active sanitiser
• Total chlorine — spot used-up sanitiser

Reading your strip

Dip a strip for two seconds, hold it level and wait 30 seconds, then match each pad against the colour chart on your instructions card. Test before each use for hot tubs, and a couple of times a week for pools in season.

What to do next

• Fix pH and alkalinity first — sanitiser readings only make sense once the balance is right.
• Dose, circulate, then re-test before anyone gets in.
• Persistent smells or cloudiness despite good readings? A drain and refill is often the quickest cure for tubs.
