Aquarium Water Test Kit Results Guide
What this kit checks
The Aquarium Water Test Kit reads the seven measures that keep tank water safe and stable. Each has its own detailed guide:
- pH — match it to your species and keep it steady
- Total alkalinity — the buffer against pH swings
- Carbonate (KH) — carbonate hardness for stability
- Hardness (GH) — general hardness for healthy fish
- Nitrate — the water-change signal
- Nitrite — toxic to fish; target zero
- Copper — harmful to invertebrates even in traces
Reading your strip
Dip a strip into tank water for two seconds, hold it level and wait 30 seconds, then match each pad against the colour chart on your instructions card. Test at the same time of day for readings you can compare week to week.
What to do next
- Nitrite above zero or nitrate climbing: partial water change, check filtration, feed lightly and re-test daily.
- pH or KH drifting: small, gradual corrections are always safer than big ones.
- Test your tap water too — knowing what goes into the tank makes tank readings far easier to understand.
